Itinerary: Suceava - Siret - Radauti - Suceava

Description: This is a half a day tour that will allow you explore both the generous natural and traditional heritage of Bukovina, and the extremely rich Jewish legacy of this piece of land. Jews started to settle in these places between the 9th and the 12th century, as trade between Cracow, Lvov, Kiev, respectively the Black Sea harbours developed. Skilled craftsmen and merchants, they were major pieces in the economic and demographic development of the region. Let us follow judaic steps to the 1840 Great Temple of Siret and the adjoining Jewish graveyard marked by outstanding tombstones, as well as Radauti's 1879 Great Temple with its imposing structure, one of the 23 synagogues that existed in town at the dawn of the 20th century. Then let us return to Suceava and visit Gah Synagogue, built in 1870, when the city hosted around 8000 Jews.
